Record your trip's GPS tracks, analyze detailed statistics, and share them with friends!
Searching for a top-notch GPS tracker that works with OpenStreetMap or Google Maps? Love outdoor adventures and travel? This is the perfect app for you.
Log your journey's path with GPS, study the stats, and easily share your routes with others.
Geo Tracker assists you by:
• Finding your way back in unfamiliar places without losing your bearings;
• Sharing your exact route with friends and family;
• Following routes from others using GPX, KML, or KMZ files;
• Marking key or interesting spots along your path;
• Pinpointing a location on the map if you have its coordinates;
• Displaying vibrant screenshots of your adventures on social media.
View your tracks and the terrain using OSM or Google map schemes, plus satellite imagery from Google or Mapbox—ensuring you always have the most detailed maps anywhere in the world. Maps you view are cached on your device for offline access (works best with OSM and Mapbox satellite). Recording tracks and calculating stats only requires a GPS signal; the internet is just for downloading map images.
While on the move, enable navigation mode to have the map auto-rotate in your direction of travel, making navigation much simpler.
The app can record tracks in the background (on many devices, this needs extra system settings—please check the in-app instructions). Background power use is highly optimized, usually allowing a full day of recording on a single charge. An economy mode is also available in the settings.
Geo Tracker calculates the following statistics:
• Total distance and recording duration;
• Maximum and average speed for the track;
• Time moving and average moving speed;
• Minimum and maximum altitude, plus total elevation change;
• Vertical distance, total ascent, and ascent rate;
• Minimum, maximum, and average slope.
Detailed charts for speed and elevation data are also available.
Save your recorded tracks as GPX, KML, or KMZ files for use in other popular apps like Google Earth or Ozi Explorer. All tracks stay locally on your device and are not uploaded to any servers.
The app is ad-free and does not monetize your personal data. You can support the project through a voluntary donation within the app.
Useful tips & tricks for common smartphone GPS issues:
• When starting a track, wait a moment for the GPS signal to be acquired.
• Restart your phone and ensure a "clear view" of the sky before starting (avoid obstructions like tall buildings or dense forests).
• GPS reception varies due to factors like weather, season, satellite positions, poor coverage areas, tall structures, and forests.
• Go to your phone's settings, select "Location," and ensure it's turned on.
• In phone settings, go to "Date & time" and enable "Automatic date & time" and "Automatic time zone." An incorrect time zone can delay GPS signal acquisition.
• Disable airplane mode in your phone settings.
If these tips don't resolve the issue, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.
Note that Google Maps uses not only GPS but also additional location data from nearby Wi-Fi networks and mobile networks.
