A Name Change to Avoid Legal Heat
Krafton has officially rebranded Dark and Darker Mobile as Abyss of Dungeons, a strategic move to distance itself from Ironmace Studios' ongoing legal troubles with Nexon. Beyond the title change, gameplay appears largely unaffected—for now.
The Nexon vs. Ironmace Lawsuit Rages On
The controversial legal battle stems from Nexon's allegations that Ironmace (founded by former Nexon employees) used proprietary assets and concepts to develop Dark and Darker. Though the lawsuit's outcome remains uncertain, Krafton clearly aims to sidestep any association by renaming the mobile adaptation.
Same Game, Different Name
Thankfully, Abyss of Dungeons retains the core mechanics despite its rebrand. The mobile version already differed from the original with its third-person perspective and tweaked gameplay—but fans needn’t worry about drastic alterations beyond the title.
This development may disappoint Ironmace loyalists, but there's hope the studio’s legal woes will conclude soon. In the meantime, players can look forward to Abyss of Dungeons’ soft launch on June 11th in Brazil, Thailand, Indonesia, and Mexico—potentially as a companion to the PC version once legal hurdles are cleared.
