Avex Pictures has just unveiled an exciting new venture for fans of the "Made in Abyss" universe: a mobile game titled "Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey." This marks the first time the captivating story of the Abyss will be explored through a mobile gaming platform, following its previous iterations in manga, anime, and a 3D action RPG.
What’s the Scoop?
Announced alongside the launch of its official X account, "Made in Abyss: A Difficult and Mysterious Journey" is set to be a casual mobile title. While specifics about the gameplay are still under wraps, fans can anticipate updates via the game's social media channels as the release date approaches. Currently, the game is slated for release on Android and iOS devices, but only in Japan. There has been no confirmation yet regarding a global rollout.
Dived into the Abyss Yet?
Originally introduced in 2012 as a manga by Akihito Tsukushi and serialized on Web Comic Gamma, "Made in Abyss" follows the adventures of Riko, a young orphan from the town of Orth, which borders a vast and mysterious vertical chasm known as the Abyss. The Abyss is teeming with ancient technology, bizarre creatures, and a deep-seated enigma that often claims explorers.
Riko, inspired by her mother Lyza—a renowned White Whistle Cave Raider who vanished into the depths—dreams of uncovering the secrets of the Abyss. Her journey takes a turn when she encounters Reg, a half-robot boy with no recollection of his origins. Together, they embark on a perilous descent into the unknown, aware that their return is far from guaranteed.
The manga's popularity led to an anime adaptation in 2017, followed by a sequel film titled "Dawn of the Deep Soul" in 2020. Additionally, in 2022, Chime Corporation released "Made in Abyss: Binary Star Falling into Darkness," a console and PC RPG that further expanded the franchise's reach.
