Ubisoft Mainz has offered a deeper look into Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana, via a recently unveiled trailer. Previous announcements highlighted exploration of Lazio and Albion; however, the new preview suggests Lazio serves as an introductory region before the main action shifts to Albion.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio starts as a peaceful area, but a sudden catastrophe forces players to venture into the uncharted territories of Britain (Albion). Albion presents significant challenges: harsh weather, resistant native tribes, and its remoteness from Rome create complex governance issues.
Players take on the role of a governor, tasked with navigating these difficulties without relying solely on military might. Diplomacy and respecting local traditions are key to success. A notable feature is the customization of player ships, allowing strategic choices between speed enhancements (via oarsmen) and increased offensive capabilities (through archery turrets).
Anno 117: Pax Romana is scheduled for release in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series S/X.
