Ubisoft's upcoming Assassin's Creed Shadows, launching this March, has added a star-studded voice to its cast. Mackenyu Arata, renowned for his portrayal of Roronoa Zoro in Netflix's One Piece adaptation, will voice a pivotal character.
Assassin's Creed Shadows: A New Recruit
Mackenyu Arata as Gennojo
Mackenyu will provide both the Japanese and English voice acting for Gennojo, a key figure in Assassin's Creed Shadows' feudal Japan setting. Ubisoft describes Gennojo as a complex character: a charming rogue with a flirtatious nature, a sharp wit, and a hidden moral compass. Driven by guilt and a desire for justice, he seeks to dismantle a corrupt system, even at great personal risk. He's particularly dedicated to protecting the vulnerable.
While the exact timing of Gennojo's appearance in the game remains undisclosed, his role in key missions is confirmed. According to Mackenyu, Gennojo is a member of the "Shinobi League" and can be recruited as a companion, assisting the player throughout their adventure.
