Avowed, set in the rich fantasy world of Eora from the Pillars of Eternity series, offers a diverse range of playable races, though character creation options are somewhat limited at launch. Here's a breakdown of the available races:
Humans (Folk)
Humans, or Folk, are the most common race in Avowed, and offer extensive customization options. Players can choose from a variety of presets, adjust skin tone, and select from numerous hairstyles and textures.
Elves
Elves are another playable race. While visually similar to humans, they feature distinct facial structures and characteristic pointed ears.
Godlikes
While all Envoys are Godlikes in the game's narrative, players can choose to incorporate Godlike features into their character's appearance. These features include a selection of unique hairstyles and facial structures, ranging from subtle to striking, with 14 facial and 4 hair options available at launch. These options are available regardless of chosen race or body type.
Character Customization: Gender and Pronouns
Avowed offers four body types: two masculine and two feminine, available for both Humans and Elves. Two masculine and two feminine voice options are also available. Players can also select their character's pronouns (he/him, she/her, they/them).
Missing Races
While Avowed features various non-playable races (Dwarves, Aumaua, Orlans) represented by NPCs, these options are currently unavailable for player characters. However, Obsidian Entertainment may add further races in future updates or DLC.
This covers all currently playable races in Avowed. For further customization options, consult our guide on available character backgrounds.
