Treyarch Unveils "The Tomb," a New Map for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, in 115 Day Celebration
Treyarch is celebrating 115 Day with a flurry of announcements for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Zombies, including the highly anticipated reveal of a new map: The Tomb. This annual January 15th event treats Call of Duty fans to a comprehensive blog detailing upcoming zombie-themed surprises.
The star of the show is The Tomb, a desert-themed Zombies map launching with Season 2 on January 28th. This follows Season 1's Citadelle des Morts, adding another thrilling location to the Zombies universe in less than two weeks.
Treyarch's narrative summary reveals that Weaver, Grey, Carver, and Maya, following Gabriel Krafft's final instructions, investigate an excavation site to secure the Sentinel Artifact. The site, ancient catacombs built upon burial grounds dating back to 2500 B.C.E., remained undisturbed until the early 1900s, hinting at secrets yet to be unearthed.
While details are scarce, The Tomb's connection to a British archaeologist, Sir Archibald Fotherington-Smythe, is teased. Gameplay-wise, Treyarch promises an experience akin to Liberty Falls—a smaller, replayable map with a focus on tight spaces and hidden Easter eggs.
Season 2 also introduces a reimagined Wonder Weapon drawing inspiration from previous titles and the return of a classic SMG. Further details on both remain under wraps.
Significant quality-of-life improvements are also planned, addressing long-standing community requests. These include tracking up to 10 Calling Card and Camo challenges across Zombies and Multiplayer, a co-op pause option for Zombies (controlled by the party leader), separated HUD presets for Zombies and Multiplayer, and the ability to rejoin Zombies matches with your loadout after being disconnected.

Treyarch also shared impressive statistics for the story-driven Directed Mode, revealing over 480 million hours played. The team notes that since its launch, the average Main Quest completion rate has more than doubled, rising from 3.38% to 8.23%.
The upcoming release of The Tomb also brings attention to the recent voice actor recastings for some beloved Zombies characters, acknowledged by Activision last month in light of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
