Alongside the exciting news that a Black Torch anime is officially in production at VIZ Media, IGN has the exclusive first look at its trailer.
VIZ Media made the announcement at their Emerald City Comic Con panel, and the trailer showcases Jiro Azuma in his stealth uniform, accompanied by his powerful mononoke, Rago, perched on his shoulder. A glimpse of a dark figure reflected in the cityscape teases the impending danger.
For those new to the series, Black Torch was crafted by Tsuyoshi Yakaki and was initially serialized in Jump SQ. and Shonen Jump+ from 2017 to 2018. Here's the official synopsis to bring you up to speed on what the upcoming anime is about:"A new era of ninja battles begins," the official synopsis states. "Hailing from a long line of ninja, Jiro has been brought up by his grandfather in the ancient warrior art of the shinobi. Jiro also possesses a unique ability to communicate with animals. However, his life takes a dramatic turn after a mysterious encounter in the forest with an injured black cat named Rago. But Rago is no ordinary cat...
"He is the legendary Black Star of Doom, a mononoke with immense powers. As dark spirits emerge from the shadows, eager to harness Rago's powers, the secretive Bureau of Espionage stands ready to combat this threat. Everyone has their own agenda when it comes to Rago's abilities, but Jiro and Rago are prepared for the challenge. A thrilling confrontation between a boy and his mononoke is set to ignite!"
“I’ve been overseeing the settings and storyboards, and I believe it has been transformed into something even more captivating, while still honoring the original story," Takaki remarked. "A new BLACK TORCH has come to life, now enriched with voices, sounds, movement, and color.”
