Legendary Pictures' upcoming live-action Street Fighter adaptation has reportedly cast Callina Liang as Chun-Li, the iconic fighting game character.
According to Deadline, the actress has officially secured the female lead role, signaling steady progress toward the film's scheduled March 20, 2026 release.
Liang launched her acting career in the 2022 series Tell Me Everything before appearing in Foundation (2023). Her recent credits include Steven Soderbergh's Presence and J.C. Lee's Bad Genius, both released in 2024.

The Street Fighter movie will introduce Liang to wider audiences as she embodies Chun-Li onscreen alongside previously announced cast members Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Jason Momoa, Roman Reigns, and Orville Peck. The production has yet to reveal additional casting or plot details featuring other franchise favorites.
Capcom and Legendary initiated development for this new Street Fighter adaptation in April 2023, originally appointing Talk to Me directors Danny and Michael Philippou. However, creative differences emerged, leading to the Philippous' departure from the project in 2024, reportedly due to scheduling conflicts.
Undeterred by production changes, Legendary confirmed a Spring 2026 release date in June 2024 and secured new director Kitao Sakurai (The Eric Andre Show, Twisted Metal) to helm the project. Production continues as additional actors join the cast.
As the premiere approaches, fans can expect more details about Liang's portrayal of Chun-Li and her role in the film's narrative. Meanwhile, Capcom's Street Fighter 6 continues its successful run, surpassing 5 million copies sold this month.
