The iconic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has been resurrected on PC, marking a triumphant return 25 years after its initial debut. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and in Europe the following year, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. Now, thanks to GOG's ongoing Preservation Program, fans can enjoy a fully updated version of the game, optimized for today's PCs and available DRM-free on their platform.
Breath of Fire IV follows the journey of Ryu, a unique protagonist with the ability to transform into a dragon. Alongside a group of warriors, Ryu embarks on a quest to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions and save the world. The updated PC version is compatible with Windows 10 and 11, offering both English and Japanese localizations. Players will benefit from enhanced graphics, thanks to an upgraded DirectX renderer, and new display options including Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction for superior visuals. The audio experience has also been improved, with restored environmental sounds and new configuration options to enhance immersion.
