In *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, you'll carve a path through ancient China, battling alongside various warlords. But eventually, a crucial decision awaits: choosing your allegiance. This guide explains the faction selection process.
Understanding Factions in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*
The game unfolds in chapters. The first two chapters see your character, the Wanderer, acting independently, assisting Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei in various battles, including significant events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate. However, Chapter 3 presents a pivotal choice: selecting a faction.
Before this point, you'll have opportunities to learn about each faction. To progress past Chapter 3, you must complete a specific number of missions for each faction leader: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission forcing you to choose an allegiance. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. For example, completing Cao Cao's missions first will present a choice between Cao Cao and Liu Bei (Liu Bei will be unavailable if his missions are incomplete).
Your choice is permanent. Once you pledge allegiance, the unchosen factions become inaccessible for the remainder of the game. You'll lose access to side quests from their officers and the ability to strengthen bonds with them. This can impact gameplay difficulty; for instance, aligning with Liu Bei, who initially has fewer commanding officers, might limit early skill point acquisition opportunities.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience everything *Dynasty Warriors: Origins* has to offer, consider creating a save before choosing a faction, allowing you to replay the game with different allegiances.
That's how to choose your faction in *Dynasty Warriors: Origins*, now available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S.
