If you're a fan of the classic murder-mystery game Clue, also known as Cluedo, you're in for a treat! Marmalade Game Studio has just released the 2016 Suspects Pack for the digital version, bringing back some iconic characters that you can now play with. This pack focuses solely on the beloved characters from the 2016 edition, allowing you the flexibility to integrate them into any scenario you desire.
Who Are the 2016 Clue aka Cluedo Suspects?
The pack includes the familiar faces of Miss Scarlet, Colonel Mustard, Reverend Green, Professor Plum, Dr. Orchid, and Mrs. Peacock. With this update, you have the freedom to choose your nostalgic favorite and dive into the game. What's more, you can even mix these classic characters with the newer 2023 cast, creating endless possibilities for gameplay.
The gaming community, particularly fans of the 2016 version, have been vocal about their desire to see these characters return. The addition of the 2023 characters felt too modern for some, and it's great to see that Marmalade Game Studio has listened to the community's feedback and released this pack.
There’s More Coming to the Game!
In addition to the 2016 Suspects Pack, Clue aka Cluedo is introducing a new game mode: the Retro Rules Set. This free mode takes you back to the original 1949 rules, offering a nostalgic twist on gameplay. The Retro Rules Set revives old-school mechanics, altering movement and accusation strategies. For instance, tokens now start at designated spots on the board, and Miss Scarlet always takes the first move—unless she's absent, in which case Colonel Mustard steps in.
In this mode, you must be in a room to make an accusation, and Clue Cards are completely removed. Additionally, you can't move through squares occupied by other players, adding a layer of strategic depth to the game.
