Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is branching out with a new turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. This smaller-scale title, launching this summer on PC via Steam, pits players against a Martian invasion. The key to victory? The Splice-O-Tron, a device used to create bizarre and powerful hybrid creatures – think Squirrel-Cows, Human-Rhinos, and Cheetah-Flies – to bolster Earth's defenses. Gameplay draws inspiration from the classic Nintendo DS title, Advance Wars.
Relic describes the narrative: "For decades, Martians have secretly visited Earth, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, a full-scale invasion is underway, and a ragtag group of commanders must lead Earth's resistance. Players will command Earth's military against advanced Martian saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors in a desperate fight for survival."

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell commented, "We're thrilled to put a Relic spin on the Advance Wars formula, blending our signature style with elements from our earlier games." He further explained Relic's new strategy: "Alongside our traditional RTS titles, we'll be developing smaller, indie-style games to explore new genres, experiment creatively, and release games more frequently."
