During the main story progression in Kuttenberg in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you’ll have the opportunity to assist Master Schindel in recovering some stolen items. This side quest, known as “Master Schindel’s Toys,” can be a bit tricky to navigate, so here’s a complete guide to help you locate the missing items and finish the quest efficiently.
How to Start the Master Schindel’s Toys Quest
To begin this quest, you must first be in the middle of the Into the Underworld main mission. During this mission, your primary objective is to track down an informant named Goatskin. While investigating at the bathhouse, speak with the Bathhouse Madam and then talk to Adam. He will inform you that Goatskin has stolen several items from Master Schindel.
Finding Goatskin
Goatskin is a nervous and elusive character, so getting him to come out of hiding requires a bit of strategy. You can either speak with Lousy Mary or choose to follow Udo. It's recommended to interact with Udo, as he appears in the bathhouse during the evening on the first floor. Simply ask him to go home and discreetly follow him. Eventually, Goatskin will attempt to rob Udo in a nearby alley, giving you the chance to confront him directly.
Obtaining the Map of the Kuttenberg Underground
In addition to gathering intel about Liechtenstein, you can also try to acquire a map from Goatskin. If you fail the skill check, you may need to bribe him with coin. Once convinced, he’ll tell you that the Map of Kuttenberg Underground can be found on a corpse hanging at the Kuttenberg gallows located on the southeastern edge of the city.
Retrieve the map by examining the hanging body. With the map in hand, you can attempt to explore the underground tunnels. However, navigating this area can be extremely challenging and disorienting.
Locating the Stolen Items
If you're looking for a faster way to retrieve the stolen items and complete the Master Schindel’s Toys quest, head directly to the northern side of the open area where you'll find an underground entrance. Climb down the ladder to access the Kuttenberg Underground. Be sure to bring out your torch, as the area is pitch black.
As you make your way through the tunnels, keep turning left at every junction. At one point, you’ll need to jump down to a lower level. Continue taking the leftmost path until you reach a dead end with a barrel. Inside, you’ll discover the stolen items: a book and an astrolabe.
Returning the Items to Master Schindel
Once you’ve collected both items, retrace your steps back to the surface using the same route. Master Schindel is typically located on the northeastern side of Kuttenberg during daylight hours. Speak with him to complete the quest. Although he may seem gruff at first, returning his belongings will soften his demeanor. He’ll even provide insight into how the astrolabe works and explain planetary motion.
