In one of the most unexpected crossover appearances in fighting game history, football legend Cristiano Ronaldo will be a playable character in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
Football Meets Fighting
The Portuguese superstar, widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers alongside Lionel Messi, joins the game's launch roster. Developer SNK Corporation unveiled his character through a new trailer showcasing Ronaldo reimagined in the game's signature comic book art style.
Ronaldo brings his football skills to the arena with special moves including "Headed Clearance" and slide tackles. The character even performs his iconic "Siuuu" celebration, though voice acting was handled by Juan Felipe Sierra rather than Ronaldo himself.
SNK's official character description states: "One of football's greatest athletes visits South Town during his offseason, transforming his signature moves into devastating combat techniques that challenge even veteran fighters."
The Saudi Connection
The 40-year-old forward currently plays for Al Nassr FC in Saudi Arabia's Pro League. Interestingly, SNK is now largely owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund - the same organization that controls Al Nassr through its chairmanship by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves launches worldwide on April 24, 2025, featuring refreshed combat mechanics, a mix of classic and new fighters, and its distinctive visual style transformed for modern platforms.
