Idris Elba Pitches Cyberpunk 2077 Live-Action with Keanu Reeves
Idris Elba, star of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, has publicly expressed his strong desire for a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation featuring himself and Keanu Reeves. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, promoting his role in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (which also stars Reeves), Elba enthusiastically stated that a live-action Cyberpunk film starring himself and Reeves would be "Whoa." He believes the pairing of their characters would be particularly compelling.
Elba's enthusiasm isn't entirely unfounded. Variety reported in October 2023 that a Cyberpunk 2077 live-action project is underway, with CD Projekt Red collaborating with Anonymous Content. While details remain scarce and updates have been slow, the success of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime and the live-action Witcher series suggests a Cyberpunk 2077 adaptation is a viable and potentially lucrative venture.
For those eager for more Cyberpunk content, a prequel manga to Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, titled Cyberpunk: Edgerunners MADNESS, has launched in several languages, with an English version expected in the future. A Blu-ray release of the anime is also planned for 2025. Furthermore, CD Projekt Red has hinted at a new Cyberpunk 2077 animated series in development. The future of Cyberpunk looks bright, with multiple projects in the pipeline.
