In Darkest Days, your journey begins in Sand Creek, a haunting location with desolate streets and pervasive decay, where the feeling of being watched is ever-present. The expansive map allows you to explore diverse environments, from dusty desert villages to frozen islands and dilapidated resort towns, as you unravel the origins of the virus.
Transportation plays a crucial role in the game. You can find and use various vehicles, ranging from family cars to emergency services like ambulances and police cruisers. Once you secure a vehicle, you can use it to mow down zombie hordes and upgrade it to withstand multiple crashes and swarms.
The zombies in Darkest Days are not just mindless creatures; they're aggressive and some exhibit erratic movement patterns, making them feel like true hunters. You can take them down with precise shots or use explosives in a panic.
A key feature of the game is shelter-building. You can construct a comprehensive base, recruit survivors, and develop facilities. These survivors can help produce resources and provide support in combat, adding depth to the survival experience.

Darkest Days offers both solo and multiplayer modes. Team up with others to fend off endless zombie waves or take on massive mutant monstrosities for valuable loot. There are also PvP zones where you can compete against other players for rare resources.
With the global open beta launch, Darkest Days kicks off Season 1, dubbed Fake Champion Luna. Players can recruit Luna Bloody, a kendo expert, into their shelter. Explore her storyline and discover why someone with her skills is navigating the apocalypse.
