A big-screen adaptation of the original Kane & Lynch game, developed by Hitman creator IO Interactive in 2007, spent years in development limbo with multiple Hollywood actors circling the project.
This week, Nobody 2 director Timo Tjahjanto revealed on social media that he had drafted a treatment for a Kane & Lynch film starring David Harbour - known for his roles as Stranger Things' Jim Hopper and Thunderbolts'/New Avengers' Red Guardian (Florence Pugh's father).
"Never saw a script, but a few years back when this IP was still relevant, I wrote a treatment envisioning James Badge Dale and David Harbour," Tjahjanto shared. "It never gained traction."

Tjahjanto might find some comfort knowing his treatment - a conceptual document used to pitch film studios before script development - was among numerous unsuccessful attempts to bring Kane & Lynch to cinemas.
For years, Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were attached to star before withdrawing as the screenplay underwent repeated revisions.
A later iteration allegedly considered Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel for the lead roles, but this version also failed to materialize.
Following the lukewarm reception of 2010's Kane & Lynch: Dog Days sequel, IO Interactive abandoned the franchise to concentrate exclusively on its Hitman series.
