Behaviour Interactive has unveiled an exciting addition to Dead by Daylight with the introduction of Springtrap, a new Killer inspired by the iconic Five Nights at Freddy’s franchise. Set to launch on June 17, 2025, this crossover Chapter promises to immerse fans in a thrilling horror experience that blends the best of both worlds.
In a recent deep dive with IGN, Behaviour Interactive provided fresh insights into Springtrap's abilities and how they draw directly from the Five Nights at Freddy’s universe. This new Killer, dubbed The Animatronic, is a menacing, axe-wielding yellow rabbit with a rich backstory in the Five Nights at Freddy’s lore. Behaviour has taken creative liberties to craft a unique gameplay experience that includes a novel jump scare mechanic, setting it apart from other Killers in the game.

Springtrap wields a giant pizza knife as his main weapon, but it's his fire axe that truly shines in gameplay. This axe serves as an Area of Effect (AOE) tool that can reveal Survivors to the Killer. When thrown accurately, it can lodge into a Survivor, setting up a chilling Five Nights at Freddy’s-style jump scare if Springtrap is the one to retrieve it.
Adding an extra layer of authenticity, Matthew Lillard, known for his role in the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie, lends his voice and likeness to The Animatronic's Yellow Rabbit Legendary outfit. Other outfit options for Springtrap include the Legendary Glitchtrap, and the Very Rare Clown Springtrap and Toxic Springtrap, along with Freddy Fazbear’s t-shirts for the Survivors.
Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Comes to Dead by Daylight
Springtrap's introduction is just part of the excitement. The new Chapter also features the highly anticipated Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria map, a meticulously crafted recreation of the iconic pizza restaurant with unique twists from The Entity. Key areas include the Front Entrance, Kitchen, Janitor Room, and Dining Hall, complete with appearances by Freddy’s band members, Bonnie and Chica.
This new map not only offers a haunting backdrop for Dead by Daylight's thrilling chases but also includes Easter Eggs and jump scares, adding to the immersive experience. Players will have to explore to uncover all the secrets this map holds.

Even outside of the Pizzeria map, players will encounter new gameplay elements inspired by Five Nights at Freddy’s, such as security doors, cameras, and a special office. These features, powered by battery life, allow Survivors to monitor Springtrap’s movements, enhancing the strategic depth of the game.
