Hideo Kojima graced the stage at SXSW 2025 in Austin tonight, unveiling a breathtaking new trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach and confirming its release date.
Death Stranding 2 arrives exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26, 2025. Digital Deluxe and Collector's Edition purchasers gain early access starting June 24.
The 10-minute trailer features cinematic sequences, gameplay footage, and notably introduces a character bearing striking resemblance to Snake from Kojima's iconic Metal Gear series.
The character Neil, portrayed by Italian actor Luca Marinelli, dons a signature bandana reminiscent of Solid Snake while commanding eerie soldiers. Wielding an assault rifle, Neil clearly operates as military personnel.

The trailer further evokes Metal Gear nostalgia with the Magellan Man - a tar-infused DHV Magellan hybrid echoing Metal Gear Rex's design (included as a 15" statue in Collector's Editions). This colossal mech battles nightmarish tar creatures in Pacific Rim-style combat.

The Standard Edition retails for $69.99, with Collector's and Digital Deluxe Editions priced at $229.99 and $79.99 respectively. Pre-orders launch March 17.
Continuing Death Stranding's narrative, this sequel poses the haunting question: 'Should We Have Connected?' The official synopsis reads:
Journey beyond the UCA in humanity's last hope for survival. Accompanied by allies, Sam Bridges embarks on a perilous odyssey against supernatural threats, environmental hazards, and existential dilemmas questioning the consequences of connection. Visionary director Hideo Kojima redefines interactive storytelling once more.
