Deltarune Chapter 3 and 4 Will Carry Over Saves From 1 and 2
Toby Fox, the creative mind behind the beloved game Undertale, has recently shared an exciting update on the development of Deltarune's upcoming Chapters 3 and 4. The update, posted on his official Bluesky account, sheds light on the ongoing console testing and what fans can anticipate in the near future.
Deltarune's Console Testing Going Smoothly
In his latest update, Toby Fox mentioned that the console testing for Deltarune is progressing well, albeit with a substantial amount of work still ahead. "Still console testing. There are fewer bugs, but there's a lot to go through. (Haven't even tested PS5 yet)," Fox stated, highlighting the ongoing efforts to refine the game. Importantly, he revealed that the development team is working on a feature to allow players to transfer their saves from the demo (Chapters 1 and 2) to the full game upon its release. This exciting feature became possible only after the team recently acquired the necessary technology. "I hope it works!" Fox optimistically added.
With the beta testing showing promising results, the release of Deltarune's Chapters 3 and 4 is eagerly anticipated for sometime in 2025, as confirmed by Toby Fox himself on Bluesky.
Fox Namedrops New Character, Tenna
Despite the intense focus on perfecting Chapters 3 and 4, Toby Fox continues to engage with fans through amusing mini-updates. Known for his humorous and meme-filled social media presence, Fox recently shared a playful anecdote: "I showed my family and friends a minigame I've been working on for DR (Deltarune) and they all described it as 'a cry for help because your game is not out'." He further added that while his family saw it as a positive sign, a friend couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes.
This revelation sparked speculation among fans, especially since Fox had previously mentioned in 2024 that the content for Chapters 3 and 4 was complete. Some believe the minigame could be part of the upcoming Chapter 5, as Deltarune is planned to encompass a total of seven chapters.
In the same post, Fox also mentioned a character named Tenna, a figure yet to appear in Deltarune but previously introduced during the Spamton Sweepstakes campaign on the game’s official website in September 2022. Fox's mention of Tenna confirms that this mysterious character will indeed play a role in the upcoming Chapter 3.
Deltarune, as the successor to the critically acclaimed Undertale, retains many of its predecessor's mechanics and quirks while introducing a fresh narrative and new characters. Players will join Kris, Susie, and Ralsei on their quest to save the world, making this a highly anticipated addition to the gaming community.
