Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto 6 will launch on May 26, 2026, and indie publisher Devolver Digital is already arranging to release its own new title on the very same day.
With a playful jab at what's certain to be 2026's most anticipated game launch, Devolver Digital shared its own announcement on X/Twitter. Now that GTA 6 has an official release date, Devolver has declared its intention to put out a mystery game on May 26 as well—a bold marketing move the company appears committed to for the time being.
This release date follows Devolver’s earlier pledge to launch its own game whenever Rockstar finally revealed GTA 6's launch schedule. With the date now set for May 26 of next year, Devolver’s message is clear: “You can’t escape us.”

Devolver Digital boasts a diverse catalog of popular indie titles, including Hotline Miami, Enter the Gungeon, The Messenger, Katana Zero, Cult of the Lamb, and more. It remains to be seen whether the new release will be a sequel to an established franchise or a completely original project. Upcoming games from the publisher include Baby Steps and Stick It to the Stickman, both slated to arrive before the end of 2025. Enter the Gungeon 2 and Human Fall Flat 2 are also in the pipeline for 2026, though developer No Brakes Games has already confirmed the latter won’t launch on May 26.

Even with more than a year until its release, GTA 6 is already shaping up to be a gaming phenomenon. It marks Rockstar’s first mainline installment in the celebrated open-world series since 2013, and fans are eagerly preparing for launch day. Devolver Digital is carving out its own piece of the spotlight in true Devolver fashion—though exactly how this will unfold is still unknown.
