A Decade in the Making
Dragon Age: The Veilguard's development has been a long and complex process, facing multiple delays spanning nearly a decade. Development began in 2015, post-Dragon Age: Inquisition. However, BioWare's focus shifted to other projects, including Mass Effect: Andromeda and Anthem, impacting the game's progress (then codenamed "Joplin"). Furthermore, initial design conflicts with the company's live-service strategy led to a complete development halt.
The project was revived in 2018 under the codename "Morrison," eventually announced as Dragon Age: Dreadwolf in 2022 before settling on its current title.
Despite the challenges, the wait is nearly over. Dragon Age: The Veilguard is launching on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S this fall. Prepare for your return to Thedas!
