The Yellow Orb is located in Merchantburg, a town initially marked as "???" on the map. Its name is determined by the merchant you hire and leave there. You must establish and develop this village to acquire the orb.
Locating Merchantburg (???)
After obtaining the ship from the King of Portoga (following the Black Pepper quest), Merchantburg is accessible. With quest markers enabled, it's located in the northeast corner of the world map. You can sail west from the coast to reach the easternmost edge of the eastern continent.
Optimal Timing for Visiting Merchantburg
While orb acquisition order is flexible, visiting Merchantburg early (immediately after getting the ship) is recommended. The town's growth requires time, so establishing it early allows you to collect other orbs concurrently.
Obtaining the Yellow Orb
Establishing Merchantburg:
- Hire a new merchant from PALS in Aliahan. Minimize combat en route.
- In Merchantburg, enter the single building. Speak to the old man who needs a merchant to found the town.
- Assign your newly hired merchant. The town will then receive its official name.
Returning to Merchantburg:
Merchantburg grows through five stages. You'll receive notifications to return and check on your merchant after each growth phase. The fourth visit involves a large club's construction. After exiting, be wary of a security guard attempting to overcharge you. By the fourth visit, the merchant's popularity may decline, foreshadowing the orb's availability.
Acquiring the Yellow Orb:
Visit Merchantburg at night during your fifth visit. The merchant will be absent, having been deposed by the townsfolk. He'll be imprisoned in the house south of his former residence.
Speak to the imprisoned merchant to learn the Yellow Orb's location. Return to the merchant's house; a quest marker will appear behind the sofa. Interact with the ground behind the sofa to find the Yellow Orb.
The Yellow Orb is typically obtained second to last. The other orbs are located in: Red Orb (Pirates' Den), Green Orb (Theddon), and Silver Orb (Maw of the Necrogond/Necrogond Shrine).
