EA's popular mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is closing its doors after a twelve-year run. Launched in 2012 on the Apple App Store and 2013 on Google Play, this city-building game allowed players to recreate their own Springfield.
The Shutdown Timeline:
In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. Servers will finally shut down on January 24th, 2025. EA expressed gratitude to its players for their decade-long support in a recent announcement.
One Last Chance to Play?
If you haven't experienced Springfield's chaotic rebuilding, now's your chance! The game puts you in charge of restoring the town after Homer's accidental nuclear mishap. You'll guide Homer, Marge, Lisa, and Bart, while interacting with beloved characters like Fat Tony and even sporting Daredevil Bart's outfit. Expand your town to Springfield Heights and manage Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.
The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a freemium game, regularly updated with content reflecting the show and real-world holidays. While the game itself is free, "donuts" are the in-game currency that fuels progress.
