Elden Ring is coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 with its Tarnished Edition, and FromSoftware's epic adventure appears to include several new bonuses, such as additional character classes and new looks for Torrent.
According to a report from Famitsu, an event titled "FROMSOFTWARE GAMES EVENT Spring 2025" took place in Tokyo on May 6. The presentation shared fresh details about Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition, including two new character classes.
As translated by RPG Site, the two classes are called the "Knight of Ides" and the "Heavy Armored Knight." Aside from the names and visuals, few specifics have been revealed. These two armor sets are said to be part of four new sets included in the Tarnished Edition, with the other two unlockable through gameplay. Additional weapons and skills were also teased.
For players fond of their spectral steed, Torrent will also receive three new appearance options. While this content is part of Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition—which bundles the base game and the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion—FromSoftware confirmed it will also be available on other platforms via the Tarnished Pack DLC. Per RPG Site, the developer mentioned this DLC will be priced affordably.
Introducing new classes is a compelling addition, especially since players will likely start fresh saves on the Switch 2 and may appreciate new ways to experience the game. Offering a bit of new content upfront could also appeal to those who have already spent considerable time with Elden Ring on other systems.
Elden Ring has already reached a massive audience, with worldwide sales officially surpassing 30 million copies. This is a monumental milestone, and the numbers are expected to grow further once the game launches on the Switch 2.
No specific release date has been announced for Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition on the Switch 2 or for the Tarnished Pack DLC, though both are expected to arrive sometime in 2025.
