At Pocket Gamer, we strive to cover a vast array of mobile games, yet some gems manage to slip through the cracks. One such game that caught our attention at Gamescom Latam last week is Dynabytes' Fantasma, an exciting augmented reality multiplayer GPS adventure. The name might be a tongue twister, but the game's concept is anything but.
Fantasma's presence at the show not only raised awareness but also aligned with a significant update, introducing new language support for Japanese, Korean, Malay, and Portuguese – a fitting choice given the event's location in Brazil. Dynabytes has plans to further expand its reach, with Spanish, Italian, and German languages set to be added in the coming months.
So, what is Fantasma all about? In this game, you take on the role of a hunter tasked with tracking down and battling malevolent creatures known as Fantasmas, which are causing chaos in the real world. To lure these entities, you deploy portable electromagnetic fields rather than traditional bait. Once they're enticed, you engage them in augmented reality combat, swinging your phone to keep the Fantasma in view while tapping the screen to launch attacks. Your goal is to deplete their health and capture them in specialized bottles.
The Fantasmas you encounter appear based on your real-world location, encouraging you to explore different areas to find more of these creatures. To enhance your hunting range, you can use sensors that extend your radar, drawing in Fantasmas from greater distances. Moreover, Fantasma offers a social aspect, allowing you to team up with other players for a more collaborative experience.
Fantasma is now available for free on both the App Store and Google Play, with in-app purchases available. If you're intrigued, you can download it for your preferred platform using the links below.
