Final Fantasy XVI director, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), has politely requested fans avoid creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" mods for the PC release.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC Launch: September 17th
Yoshi-P's Plea for Respectful Modding
In a recent PC Gamer interview, Yoshi-P addressed the modding community, urging them to refrain from creating mods deemed "offensive or inappropriate." While the interviewer inquired about potentially humorous mods, Yoshi-P prioritized the avoidance of harmful content. He stated a desire to avoid specifying examples to prevent unintended encouragement, but emphasized a clear preference against such creations.
Yoshi-P's experience with previous Final Fantasy titles likely exposes him to a wide range of mods, some falling outside the bounds of acceptability. Online modding communities like Nexusmods and Steam showcase a diverse range of mods, from graphical enhancements to cosmetic crossovers (such as the Half-Life costume mod for FFXV). However, NSFW and other offensive content also exists. While Yoshi-P refrained from explicit examples, his request clearly targets this type of material. One example might include mods offering "high-quality nude body mesh replacements" with enhanced textures.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC release boasts features like a 240fps frame rate cap and advanced upscaling, a significant achievement for the development team. Yoshi-P's request simply aims to maintain a respectful and positive environment for all players.
