Flashbang: Battlefield 6 Lighting Is So Bright That Players Feel Like They Have to Fight the Sun

Author : Simon Update:Mar 10,2026

As players continue to deploy into Battlefield 6 multiplayer to explore its many maps, modes, and weapons, they’re encountering a new adversary: the sun.

The millions who’ve sampled EA and Battlefield Studios’ latest large-scale FPS in its first week since launch have been blindsided by blindingly bright lighting—so intense it feels like being “flash-banged.” This issue impacts every class, from Engineers to Recon, especially when exiting buildings or, even more frustratingly, aiming down sights (ADS) while peering outdoors from indoors.

The whole lighting system seems broken

Footage of these problems plaguing Battlefield 6 players is impossible to overlook—we’ve experienced them firsthand at IGN. Walking around outdoor maps is usually fine, but the moment you step out of a building, the screen nearly whites out from the sun’s overwhelming intensity. This isn’t just annoying; it’s a serious disadvantage in a competitive military shooter where every shot matters.

It’s unclear whether the overly bright lighting affects more players on PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox—or if it’s universal across all versions. While a few argue the intense lighting is realistic and worth keeping, the overwhelming majority of players disagree.

“I got people sledgehammering drones, riding up to the sky, landing 500m shots—but my operator forgot sun protective glasses? The contrast between indoor and outdoor lighting is horrific,” content creator and 100 Thieves founder Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag said in a post. “This realism argument has gone too far. BF6 is great, but a lot needs fixing.”

“Yeah, I imagine they’re going to have to improve it at some point,” another Reddit user added. “Looking out a window feels like getting flash-banged, and looking into a building is like suddenly going blind.”

Thankfully, DICE’s principal game designer for Battlefield, Florian Le BiHan, said in an X/Twitter post that BF Studios is “working on a set of improvements” to address the harsh lighting in Battlefield 6. Further details on fixes are expected “in the near future.”

Until an official patch arrives, players are left to manage the sun’s glare on their own—especially since leaving buildings is inevitable. In the meantime, some believe they’ve found a temporary workaround to make ADS more bearable—no sunglasses needed.

Battlefield 6 sun glare tip:

If you are experiencing the awful glare from the sky and looking out at the distance from inside a building. Turning on HDR on my monitor and in windows (HDR 1000 to be exact) completely eliminated all glare.

There’s no universal fix yet, but some players suggest toggling HDR on or off based on their display. There’s also an in-game World Brightness setting, defaulting to 50, which can be adjusted. Just be warned: lowering it too far can make environments unnaturally dark. Others report that tweaking other graphics settings—like Performance Preset modes on consoles—has helped too.

These aren’t guaranteed solutions and may vary by setup, but they offer a starting point while EA and BF Studios work toward a proper, permanent fix.
