Rifts are rarely good news in gaming, but Avid Games has embraced the chaos in its highly anticipated game, Eerie Worlds. This tactical CCG follows the success of Cards, the Universe and Everything, offering a monster-filled adventure focused on learning and fun.
Eerie Worlds features a diverse cast of monsters inspired by real-world mythology and folklore.
From Japanese Yokai like Jikininki and Kuchisake to Slavic creatures such as Vodyanoy and Psoglav, the game boasts a global bestiary. Bigfoot, Mothman, the Nandi Bear, El Chupacabra, and countless others populate the card roster, each accompanied by detailed, researched descriptions.
The game incorporates four Alliances (Grimbald, Zerrofel, Rivin, and Synnig) and multiple Hordes, adding significant tactical depth through varied monster properties. Players build their Grimoire, a personal monster collection, by merging duplicate cards from the initial 160 basic cards, with many more unlockable through merging and future updates.
Avid Games plans to release two additional Hordes in the coming months, ensuring continued gameplay evolution.
Gameplay involves constructing a deck of nine monster cards and one world card. Battles unfold over nine 30-second turns, demanding strategic decisions regarding mana usage, synergy exploitation, and more.
