Fortnite's Revamped Quest UI Faces Backlash
Epic Games' recent Fortnite update, including a significant quest UI redesign, has sparked considerable player discontent. The update, released on January 14th, introduced numerous changes, cosmetics, and content, but the revamped quest system has proven particularly controversial.
The new UI presents quests in collapsible blocks and submenus, a departure from the previous list format. While some players appreciate the cleaner initial appearance, many find the increased number of submenus frustrating and time-consuming to navigate, especially during matches where time is critical. This is highlighted by complaints regarding the new Godzilla quests. Players report that locating quests within the new UI system takes excessive time, leading to premature eliminations.
Previously, accessing quests for different game modes (like Reload and Fortnite OG) required switching between modes in the lobby – a process players found inconvenient. The new UI aims to address this, but its in-game implementation is widely criticized for its impact on gameplay flow.
Despite the negative reception to the quest UI, Epic Games' addition of Festival instruments as pickaxes and back blings has been generally well-received, expanding cosmetic customization options. Overall, while Chapter 6 Season 1 has been largely praised, the quest UI redesign remains a significant point of contention within the Fortnite community.
