The Flare Knife is a powerful combat item that can significantly aid in these encounters. This guide details how to obtain and effectively use the Flare Knife against Abductors.
Acquiring the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early on. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. Zakka's inventory includes the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.
Utilizing the Flare Knife in Battle
The Flare Knife is designed for severing Abductor limbs, a valuable tactic regardless of your preferred weapon type (Polearms or Heavy Melee). However, remember it's a single-use item; repurchase is necessary for subsequent Operations.
To employ the Flare Knife, lock onto a severable Abductor part. Use your Thorn to grapple onto it. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option appears. A quick-time event (QTE) follows, requiring rapid button mashing to successfully sever the limb. Be aware that Abductors may attempt to disrupt the process by leaping or crashing.
