GOG has launched an innovative one-click mod system to streamline modding for PC gamers.
The platform explained that installing mods can often be time-consuming, so the One-Click Mods initiative allows players to browse, install, and enjoy mods with unprecedented ease. GOG has curated a selection of high-quality mods, seamlessly integrated with their respective games for a hassle-free setup.
GOG also emphasized that mods play a vital role in preserving video games, enabling community-driven fixes for bugs, restoring cut content like quests and characters, and introducing fresh, fan-created material.
We can't wait to get Skyblivion into your hands later this year! Thanks to our friends over @GOGcom for helping us make that easier and more accessible. https://t.co/nxk8kXx7Qr

The mod library currently features titles like Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete, Doom 3, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, and Fallout 4. For Heroes of Might and Magic 3, players gain access to an expansion with new factions, campaigns, creatures, artifacts, and quality-of-life upgrades, including a functional multiplayer lobby. Fallout 4 includes a one-click install for Fallout: London, a standalone story set in a post-apocalyptic UK.
For Doom 3, the Phobos mod offers a narrative-driven prequel with a classic FPS feel enhanced by modern touches. The Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines mod provides an unofficial patch that resolves lingering bugs, restores cut quests, levels, characters, and dialogue, and enhances the overall experience.
Additionally, the highly anticipated Skyblivion mod for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Anniversary Edition will join GOG’s One-Click Mods lineup later this year.
Skyblivion, developed by the volunteer-driven TESRenewal modding group, reimagines The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion within Skyrim: Special Edition. Despite Bethesda’s release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered in April, the company has endorsed Skyblivion, even gifting remastered game keys to the modding team.
This initiative is part of GOG’s broader efforts to preserve gaming history. Last year, GOG introduced a preservation program to ensure the longevity of titles like Resident Evil, Fallout: New Vegas, and The Witcher 2, addressing concerns from developers and players about the risks of digital-only games becoming inaccessible, as seen with Ubisoft’s decision to delist and shut down The Crew in March 2024.
