Take-Two Interactive Looks To Have One Of Its Strongest Years
GTA 6 Release Window Still On Fall 2025
Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 6 continues to be on schedule for a Fall 2025 release. This was confirmed during Take-Two Interactive's Q3 Earnings Conference Call on February 7, 2025, where the company outlined its current status and upcoming releases for the year.
Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, expressed strong confidence in meeting the Fall 2025 release window for GTA 6. However, he acknowledged the inherent risks in game development, stating, "Look, there's always a risk of slippage and I think as soon as you say words like absolutely, you jinx things." Despite this, Zelnick reassured stakeholders that the team "feels really good about it." He refrained from sharing specifics about GTA 6's development but emphasized the pursuit of perfection by Rockstar Games, saying, "We know that Rockstar seeks perfection. I never claim success before it occurs. I'm fond of saying arrogance is the enemy of continued success, so we're all running scared and looking over our shoulders and we know that the competition is not asleep. Our whole organization is super excited."
Take-Two Interactive Game Releases In 2025
Zelnick highlighted the significance of 2025 for Take-Two Interactive, pointing to a lineup of major game releases. "Looking ahead, this calendar year is shaping up to be one of the strongest ever for Take-Two, as Sid Meier’s Civilization VII launched in Early Access today, with the official launch on February 11th, and we also plan to release Mafia: The Old Country in the Summer, Grand Theft Auto VI in the Fall, and Borderlands 4 before year-end," he announced.
Expressing optimism about the commercial prospects of these titles, Zelnick added, "We are exceedingly optimistic about the commercial potential of our titles and believe that they will have a transformative effect on our business – and our industry – over the long term." The company is also confident in achieving record levels of Net Bookings in Fiscal 2026 and 2027.
GTA 5 Sold 210 Million Units Worldwide To Date
The GTA franchise remains Take-Two Interactive's flagship series, having sold over 210 million units of GTA 5 worldwide. The holiday update for GTA Online, Agents of Sabotage, was particularly successful. Additionally, GTA+, the membership program for GTA Online, saw a 10% increase in subscribers year-over-year.
Other titles from Take-Two Interactive also experienced significant success in the third quarter. NBA 2K25 sold over 7 million units, showing increased player engagement with "Recurrent Consumer Spending up over 30%, Daily Active Users up nearly 20%, and Monthly Active Users up nearly 10%."
Red Dead Redemption 2 has sold over 70 million units to date and continues to attract more players, with Red Dead Online receiving regular updates, including the popular Halloween pass. The game is currently enjoying its highest concurrent player count on Steam, with 99,993 players as per SteamDB.
GTA 5 Actor Does Not Hate His Character
There has been speculation among fans that Steven Ogg, the actor behind Trevor in GTA 5, dislikes being associated with the character. However, Ogg clarified his stance during an interview on the Inside You podcast. He debunked the rumors, stating, "When people call you by your character name, it's kinda weird because I kinda get it, but I'm also like meh." He expressed affection for the character, saying, "He's a great character. He's awesome. I still see [Fonteno, Franklin's actor] and Ned [Luke, Michael's actor], we're friends. We were just doing a Comic Con this past weekend."
In a previous interview with Screen Rant, Ogg playfully suggested that Trevor could appear in GTA 6 only to be killed off early in the game. However, he confirmed he has not recorded any lines for GTA 6 and is unaware of Trevor's potential return to the series.
While GTA 6 is set to release in Fall 2025, no specific release date has been officially announced. Stay updated with the latest news on GTA 6 by visiting our Grand Theft Auto 6 page.
