Author : Nathan Update:May 02,2025

In *Monster Hunter Wilds*, while many achievements focus on tackling the game's most formidable creatures, one unique trophy/achievement stands out for its focus on the smallest of beasts. Here's a comprehensive guide on how to unlock the 'I Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement.

The 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' hidden trophy/achievement is both simple and elusive. It requires you to capture an endemic life known as the **Sandstar** in the **Windward Plains**. This creature, resembling a small desert mouse with shimmering fur, is only visible at night in a specific part of the region.

Since the Windward Plains are often explored during the day in the story, you'll need to wait for nightfall. Here are two ways to pass time until night:

  • Fast Travel – Available early in the game, once you unlock different fast travel points in the Windward Plains. Use your interactive map to fast travel between points until nightfall.
  • Rest – After completing Chapter 3 and unlocking high-rank content, you can rest at a base or pop-up camp. Use your Guild Points to select nighttime and wait for the right environmental conditions.

The Sandstar is small and swift, making it a challenging target even on a Seikret. To increase your chances, gather **Screamer Pods** from **Baunos**, small red-winged scavengers found in **Area 11** and **Area 13** of the Windward Plains.

At nightfall, head to the midpoint between Area 11 and Area 13. Keep an eye out for the Sandstar. When you spot it, chase it at full speed and use a Screamer Pod to stun it. Quickly switch to your **Capture Net** and throw it at the Sandstar to capture it. Upon successful capture, the 'I Caught a Shooting Star!' trophy/achievement will unlock, and you'll receive the **Ribbon Dream: Amber** nameplate for your Hunter Profile.

This guide covers everything you need to know to achieve the 'I Caught a Shooting Star' trophy/achievement in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more tips and tricks, be sure to explore our other guides, including how to skip cutscenes.
