Harrison Ford remains unfazed by the critical and commercial failure of "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," casually dismissing the flop with a nonchalant "shit happens." Despite the fifth installment in the beloved franchise being panned by critics and reportedly losing $100 million at the box office, Ford stands by his decision to revisit the character of Indiana Jones one last time.
In an interview with The Wall Street Journal Magazine, Ford explained his motivation behind returning to the iconic role. "When [Indy] had suffered the consequences of the life that he had to live, I wanted one more chance to pick him up and shake the dust off his ass and stick him out there, bereft of some of his vigor, to see what happened," he said. Despite the film's poor reception, Ford remains content with his choice, stating, "I’m still happy I made that movie."
Undeterred by the setback, Ford has moved on to another major franchise, joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the upcoming "Captain America: Brave New World." He steps into the role of Thaddeus Ross, previously played by the late William Hurt, and will transform into the Red Hulk in this new film.
Ford's decision to join the MCU was driven by a desire for enjoyment rather than knowledge of his character's future developments. "Why not? I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time," he remarked. He joined the project without having seen a script and was unaware that his character would turn into the Red Hulk. Ford humorously likened the experience to life, saying, "You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing."
"Captain America: Brave New World" is set to be one of the shortest MCU films to date and will premiere on February 14. It marks the first time Anthony Mackie will take on the titular role of Captain America, succeeding Chris Evans' Steve Rogers. The film will also introduce deep-cut characters from Marvel lore, including The Leader, fulfilling a tease from the second MCU film, "The Incredible Hulk."
