Warner Bros. Discovery Confirms Hogwarts Legacy Sequel
A Sequel Expected Within a Few Years
During Bank of America's 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels confirmed plans for a Hogwarts Legacy sequel. The original game, a critically acclaimed action RPG based on the Harry Potter universe, has sold over 24 million copies since its release.
Wiedenfels stated, "Clearly, a Hogwarts Legacy sequel is a top priority for us in the coming years. We anticipate significant growth from our games division, and this project is a key component of that strategy," according to Variety.
Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad highlighted the game's exceptional replayability as a major factor in its success. In an interview with Variety, Haddad emphasized, "Many players have revisited the game multiple times." He further praised the game's impact, stating, "It presented Harry Potter in a fresh, immersive way, allowing players to truly inhabit this world and story."
Haddad believes this immersive quality is what resonated so strongly with fans, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to become the best-selling game of the year. He added, "That's a position usually occupied by sequels from established franchises, and we're incredibly proud to have achieved this."
Game8 was particularly impressed by Hogwarts Legacy's stunning visuals, calling it the most visually captivating Harry Potter experience available. For a detailed review, please see our link below!
