IGN has exciting news for fans of *Hollow Knight: Silksong*: the eagerly awaited game will be playable at Australia's national museum of screen culture, ACMI, in Melbourne starting September 18, 2025. Developed by Team Cherry, a studio based in Adelaide, South Australia, *Silksong* has been a top contender on the Steam wishlist for years and is one of the most anticipated games globally.
The game will be featured in the "Game Worlds" exhibition at ACMI, which will not only allow visitors to play *Silksong* but also explore the game's intricate design and artistic direction through various displays. Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell, co-curators at ACMI, expressed their enthusiasm about showcasing *Silksong*: "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September. From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design. We’re so grateful to Team Cherry for trusting us with their work, and so excited to share that work with you!"
As part of the announcement, ACMI shared a sprite sheet from *Silksong*, one of several design elements that will be on display in the Game Worlds exhibition. The image was provided to IGN with permission.
With *Silksong* set to be playable at ACMI from September 18, fans are eagerly anticipating an official release date. Speculation suggests a possible launch before that date, perhaps in August. Recent developments, including a brief appearance at Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct and Team Cherry's confirmation of a 2025 release window, have fueled excitement. The game, originally announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, will also be available on Xbox (and Game Pass), PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5. Team Cherry's playful teases, including a mysterious chocolate cake recipe at the start of 2025, continue to keep fans on their toes.
