During a live Q&A session on inZOI's official Discord channel, three team leads addressed these topics in a segment aptly titled "Ask Me (almost) Anything," with translations provided by inZOI Assistant Director Joel Lee.
There Will Be "Sort Of" A Sex Feature
When it comes to explicit content, Lee navigated the sensitive subject with care, explaining, "Our answer is: sort of. There is a feature in the game where it's clear what's happening—the male Zoi and the female Zoi are together, likely in bed, with the intention of creating babies. However, how visually apparent this is? That's left to your imagination. What you see isn't exactly what's happening; you have to assume it's taking place. Is that clear enough? It's there. Sort of. Maybe not to the level that everyone might expect."
This somewhat ambiguous statement confirms the presence of a sex feature in inZOI, though the execution will be toned down to appeal to a broader audience. Given inZOI's focus on realism, fans can anticipate a more subdued approach compared to the more playful and animated style of The Sims.
Blurring Effects Don’t Work Well With inZOI
Curious about the in-game showering mechanics, players learned that the decision to have Zois shower with towels on stems from the game's art style. The developers noted that pixelated blurring effects, effective in cartoonish games like The Sims, clash with inZOI's more realistic visuals. When applied, these effects unintentionally heightened the sexual suggestiveness. Moreover, a bug during testing allowed players to see Zois fully naked in mirrors, an issue the developers quickly addressed.
Making inZOI Available to All
Despite the discussions around sex and nudity, inZOI has secured a T for Teen rating from the ESRB, akin to The Sims 4. This ensures the game remains accessible to a diverse audience while maintaining a safe-for-work environment. Lee emphasized the team's goal to make the game available to as many age groups as possible, stating, "We wanted to provide a game that was widely available to as many age groups as possible."
