In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the side quest *Bad Blood* offers a deep dive into the game's rich narrative and character development. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to start and complete this engaging quest.
How to Start Bad Blood in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2
To embark on the *Bad Blood* quest, you'll first need to progress in the main storyline until you're tasked with finding Mutt. During your search, you'll visit a clearing near Bozhena's hut. Upon arrival, Henry will suggest checking with Bozhena to see if she's seen Mutt. Head to her hut and inquire about Mutt, and Bozhena will reveal that her daughter, Pavlena, has gone missing. Agree to assist her, and the *Bad Blood* quest will be added to your journal.
Gather Information
Begin by traveling to Troskowitz and speak with Bailiff Thrush, followed by a conversation with Innkeeper Betty at the local tavern. These interactions will provide crucial background on Bozhena and Pavlena, including the reasons behind their ostracism from the village. Next, head to the designated area to talk to the woodcutters. Find Woodcutter Dushko, who will direct you to Roman's house. Remember to save your game before attempting to lockpick the door to Roman's house. Inside, inspect Pavlena's basket and then return to Dushko for more clues, leading you to a favorite spot of the couple near Roman's house.
Search the Scene
From Roman's house, follow the objective marker downhill towards a stream, then veer left at two large boulders. You'll discover a trail of blood leading to Roman's deceased body. Continue upward to speak with Hogherd Hugo, then return to the farm in Troskowitz to interrogate Hired Hand Straw. Successfully passing a dialogue check with Straw will unveil information about Jakesh and the true events involving Roman and Pavlena. After this, you may also confer with Thrush about Straw's fate before proceeding south of Zhelejov to further your investigation.
Confront Ota
Navigate the objective area to find a path around a large boulder, then climb a ladder to reach Ota and Pavlena. To secure Pavlena's release, you'll need sufficient Charisma to pass the following dialogue options:
- “What’s your name?”
- “Let her go and I’ll let you go.”
- “I’ll put in a good word for you with His Lordship.”
After convincing Ota, Pavlena will take matters into her own hands and kill him. Subsequently, accompany her back to Bozhena, who will then request you to deal with Jakesh.
Kill Jakesh or Make Peace
For the quest's final stage, you have the choice to either eliminate Jakesh or broker peace between him and Bozhena. Locate Jakesh at his child’s grave on the farm. You can either confront him lethally or engage in dialogue to resolve the conflict peacefully. Alternatively, you could choose to kill Bozhena instead, though this will alter the quest's outcome. In my playthrough, I opted to kill Jakesh and reported back to Bozhena for a reward.
Should You Kill Jakesh?
Choosing to kill Jakesh will negatively impact your reputation in Troskowitz but will significantly boost your standing with Bozhena and Pavlena. Additionally, you'll unlock new dialogue options with Pavlena and receive a necklace that was a gift from Roman. Conversely, if you spare Jakesh and facilitate peace, he will reward you with 100 groschen. When reporting back to Bozhena, you can decide whether to keep the money or share it, allowing Bozhena and Pavlena to return to the settlement.
