Killing Floor 3 Delayed to Later in 2025
Tripwire Interactive has announced a significant delay for Killing Floor 3 (KF3), pushing the release date further into 2025. This decision follows a closed beta test that apparently fell short of expectations. The announcement, made on March 7th, 2025, via the game's official Bluesky account, came just three weeks before the previously scheduled March 25th launch.
Disappointing Beta Feedback Leads to Delay
Tripwire acknowledged the negative feedback received during the closed beta, stating that the team "missed the mark." The developer highlighted several key areas needing improvement, including performance and stability, user interface/user experience (UI/UX), lighting, and weapon feel. The statement emphasized a commitment to preserving the core Killing Floor experience while striving for ambitious advancements within the franchise.
Online reaction to the beta was overwhelmingly critical. Players voiced concerns about the game's perceived clunkiness, numerous glitches, and a departure from the series' established horror elements in favor of a more futuristic sci-fi aesthetic. Criticism also targeted the character/class selection system implemented in the beta. One Reddit user, Captain_Pugman, succinctly summarized the sentiment: "At what point did you forget what made Killing Floor special?"
Tripwire concluded its announcement by expressing gratitude for player support and promising to share further updates as they become available.
Pre-Order Refunds
Tripwire's Senior Community Manager, Yoshiro, provided details regarding pre-order refunds. Automatic cancellations and refunds will be processed for PlayStation, Xbox, and Epic Games Store pre-orders. However, US PlayStation users will have the option to retain their pre-order. Steam users will need to initiate refunds manually through the Steam support system. Refunds for purchases made through other third-party platforms will be subject to those platforms' individual policies.
