A Kindling Forest: A Solo Developer's Clever Auto-Runner
Dennis Berndtsson, a high school teacher moonlighting as a solo game developer, presents his latest creation: A Kindling Forest. This isn't your average action-adventure; it's a side-scrolling auto-runner brimming with ingenious mechanics. Prepare for forests, arrows, and a generous helping of lava!
The Story: A Demon, an Archer, and a Constant Chase
An ancient demon is terrorizing the world, prompting the forest spirits to awaken a long-dormant archer. Armed with a bow and arrow, he's tasked with vanquishing the demonic threat. But this isn't a simple quest; expect the unexpected!
Gameplay: Dodge or Destroy
You're perpetually in motion, navigating a constantly scrolling screen littered with sharp, unpredictable obstacles. Your strategy is simple: evade or eliminate these hazards using your arrows. Arrows are your lifeblood, literally provided by the forest spirits. Run out, and it's game over. Every shot must count.
Five Levels of Increasing Chaos
A Kindling Forest unfolds across five increasingly challenging levels. Expect to leap over spiders, teleport through ancient ruins, soar through the clouds, and even contend with fiery lava flows. Strategically placed checkpoints offer reprieves, allowing you to restart and refine your approach after mishaps.
Split-Screen Precision
The game cleverly utilizes a split-screen interface: one half for jumping, the other for aiming. Precise timing is crucial, enhanced by a slow-motion effect during aiming, giving you that extra moment for perfect shots.
