It's the third consecutive day I've reported on a game's end-of-service. This time, it's KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global, which officially shut down today, January 30th. The servers are now offline. What's next?
How Long Did KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global Last?
Developed by Sumzap and initially published by Nexon before transferring to Sesisoft, KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global enjoyed a respectable run. While the global version lasted 3.5 years, its Japanese counterpart thrived for a full 5 years. This is a commendable lifespan for an anime-based gacha game, especially considering revenue had been declining for some time.
The developers clearly shifted their focus to the JJK gacha game (Jujutsu Kaisen Phantom Parade). Even so, they supported KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global until the very end, releasing voiced story updates and a final song just three weeks before shutdown.
A farewell livestream in December featured Kazuma's voice actor. The Japanese version went above and beyond by archiving the entire main story on its YouTube channel, allowing players to revisit the antics of Kazuma and his crew at their leisure. An offline version also provides access to the story, voice lines, and character collection.
Unfortunately, KonoSuba: Fantastic Days Global won't receive an offline version or dedicated YouTube archive. However, fans can still enjoy the Japanese YouTube channel's archived content.
