Krysten Ritter is set to reprise her role as Jessica Jones in the upcoming second season of Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+. The announcement came during the Disney Upfront presentation in New York, confirming months of speculation and delighting fans eager to see the Netflix Defenders reunite within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
Ritter joined Daredevil and The Defenders co-star Charlie Cox on stage, expressing her enthusiasm for returning to the character after three seasons of Jessica Jones and The Defenders. "It’s so great to be back, returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders and now joining the MCU," Ritter stated. "I’m so excited to bring back this iconic character, and without giving too much away, there is much more in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season!"
Ritter first brought Jessica Jones to life in 2015 with the premiere of the first season on Netflix. Following two more seasons and the team-up series The Defenders, the future of her character seemed uncertain as Netflix's Marvel programming concluded. However, Disney's reacquisition of the rights to certain characters in 2021 opened the door for Ritter's return. With Cox reprising his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home and starring in Daredevil: Born Again, the stage was set for other Netflix heroes to make their MCU debut.
Ritter last portrayed Jessica Jones in the third season, which aired in 2019. Her comments at the upfront presentation hint at further appearances beyond Daredevil: Born Again Season 2, though for now, fans can look forward to seeing her in the series. While Disney has not yet announced a release date, showrunner Dario Scardapane has indicated that new episodes will be available in March 2026.
