Ah, baseball. The vicious swing of the bat, the crack of wood meeting leather, and the smell of speciously edible hotdogs. Is there anything more American than the baseball diamond? I wouldn't know, I'm from the UK. But I do know that plenty of us wouldn't mind managing our own team in the major leagues, and Bitball Baseball lets you do just that.
Don't expect high-resolution, Unreal Engine textures from this game, though. Bitball Baseball is an upcoming super low-res baseball simulator that's rendered on a charmingly small scale. You'll get a view of the entire field and a horde of pixellated fans as your players compete against rival teams, racing for the base after every swat.
When it comes to features, Bitball Baseball offers virtually everything you'd expect from a fantasy sports simulator. You can trade your players, customize your team and lineup, build a world-beating stadium, and grow a dedicated fanbase (or gouge them for ticket prices). The game is free to play, but you can purchase the premium version to customize the names and appearances of your players and edit a custom team overall.
Take me out to the ballgameYes, the baseball simulator is a sub-genre of the more popular football and American football-type franchises, but there's no denying the universal appeal of this sport. I also appreciate developers Duckfoot Games for being transparent about what comes in the free and premium versions of their release, even listing it on the storefront!
You can check out Bitball Baseball when it's expected to release on March 12th, in just a few weeks! Be sure to pre-register on Android or iOS and get in your hits.
