Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, NetEase, the developer, has previously ruled out a Nintendo Switch release due to performance limitations. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?
Recent discussions with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit shed light on this. Wu stated that NetEase is actively engaging with Nintendo, obtaining development kits, and exploring a Switch 2 port. The primary reason for excluding the original Switch was the inability to deliver a satisfactory gameplay experience. If the Switch 2 can meet their performance standards, a release is highly likely.
The Nintendo Switch 2, unveiled last month, promises enhanced power and features compared to its predecessor. Rumors suggest a mouse-like control scheme, potentially bridging the gap between console and PC shooter experiences, though specifics remain unclear.
While the Switch 2 lacks a confirmed release date, a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd. Marvel Rivals, meanwhile, is currently available on other platforms and has received positive critical acclaim, earning an 8/10 rating in our review. We praised its strong position within the hero shooter genre. The Human Torch and The Thing are slated to join the roster on February 21st.
