Get ready for a blast from the past! HaoPlay Limited's upcoming title, Metal Slug: Awakening, is bringing the classic arcade experience to mobile. Launching globally on July 18th, 2024, pre-registration is now open.
What's the Buzz?
Metal Slug: Awakening offers a modern twist on the beloved '90s run-and-gun series. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has seen some delays and name changes. Following its Southeast Asia release in late 2023, it's finally ready for a global launch.
For those unfamiliar (though we doubt that's the case!), Metal Slug is a Japanese run-and-gun series that debuted in 1996, created by Nazca Corporation and later expanded into a multimedia franchise.
Awakening isn't Metal Slug's first mobile adventure. We've seen Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020). However, Awakening promises a significant upgrade with enhanced features.
The game stays true to its roots with classic shooter mechanics, but boasts updated visuals and new gameplay elements. Expect to revisit familiar characters and embark on fresh missions. Features include a World Adventure mode, 3-player cooperative Team-up action, and challenging Roguelike modes.
