Enhanced Xbox Game Pass Rewards: Quests Arrive on PC, Age Restrictions Implemented
Starting January 7th, Xbox Game Pass introduces a revamped rewards system, including Quests, for PC users. This update significantly expands earning opportunities but introduces an age restriction. Only players 18 and older will have access to the new features.
Key changes include daily, weekly, and monthly quest options designed to encourage broader game exploration. The return of weekly streaks adds a compelling incentive for consistent play, with point multipliers increasing based on the length of the streak (2x for two weeks, 3x for three, and 4x for four or more).
Specific quest types include:
- Daily Play: Earn 10 points daily by playing any Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes.
- Weekly Streaks: Play at least five days a week to earn points, with multipliers for consecutive weeks.
- Monthly 4-Pack & 8-Pack: Earn points by playing four or eight different games (15 minutes minimum each) per month. The 4-Pack games count towards the 8-Pack.
- PC Weekly Bonus: Earn 150 points by playing for at least 15 minutes on five or more days of the week.
The Rewards Hub, accessible via Xbox console, the Xbox app (Windows PC and mobile), will be unavailable to users under 18. Microsoft emphasizes its commitment to age-appropriate gaming experiences as the reason for this restriction. Players under 18 can only earn rewards through parental purchases of eligible items from the Microsoft Store.
This update streamlines the reward system, making it more accessible and rewarding for eligible players, while also aligning with Microsoft's commitment to responsible gaming practices. The minimum playtime requirement of 15 minutes applies to all quests, and only Game Pass catalog titles (excluding those using third-party launchers) are eligible.
