The Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria is an annual event, similar to other seasonal town activities. If you miss it one year due to in-game commitments or it simply slips your mind, don't worry—you can always catch it the following year.
The festival kicks off on the 10th day of the Winter season. Depending on your current position in the seasonal cycle, this gives you ample time to prepare by purchasing and tending to your farm animals. Ensuring your animals are in top condition is crucial for success at the festival, especially if you're aiming for the top prizes.
How to Win Animal Festival in Fields of Mistria

The highlight of the Animal Festival is the main contest, where you can enter up to two of your farm-raised animals to compete for prizes. You can choose one small animal (like chickens, ducks, or rabbits) and one large animal (such as cows, alpacas, or sheep). Remember, only fully grown adult animals are eligible for the contest.
How to Enter the Animal Festival Contest
To participate, head to the festival grounds in the town center and speak with Josephine at the front counter. She will direct you to the two booths behind her where you can enter your animals.
Josephine will also share valuable tips on how to maximize your score. Firstly, the more hearts your chosen animal has, the higher your score will be. You can boost your animal's hearts by petting them, picking them up, feeding them well, and allowing them outdoor time on sunny days.

The scene then shifts to the large animal category. If you outshine Hayden's cow, Sunshine, to take first place, you'll be declared the winner of that bracket as well.
At the end of the judging, you'll receive a list of prizes corresponding to your performance. Competing in your first year might make it challenging to win first place, as it takes time to fully max out your animals' heart gauges. Additionally, you'll need to complete enough ranch-related story quests and upgrade your farm's barns and coops to access rare animals and unique coat styles.
