Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several publishers have announced the return of their flagship titles for the 2025 edition. Garena's Free Fire was an early confirmation, and now Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has joined the roster.

The 2024 tournament featured two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These events attracted teams from around the globe to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Selangor Red Giants claimed victory in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress triumphed in the Women's Invitational, ending Team Vitality's impressive 25-game win streak.

A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?

Most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup appear set to return. However, a notable trend emerges: the featured competitions are largely not the top-tier events within their respective games. The inclusion of MLBB's mid-season cup, for instance, might suggest the Esports World Cup is viewed as a secondary event rather than the main attraction.

This has a double-edged effect. Positively, it avoids overshadowing established leagues. Negatively, it could be perceived as less significant than the primary championships.
